Empathic design is currently considered to be one of the most important design fields, and not only that.
The ability to observe consumers and see the world from their perspectives allows us to create products which are better suited for the needs of users, meaning they have a greater chance of being a sales success. This is not all. Similar methods have started to be used in many other fields, such as corporate consultancy, or in designing more user-friendly financial services. The purpose of what we understand as empathic design should not be only to meet the needs of privileged social groups and generate profits for wealthy investors. Wanting to confront the most complex challenges of modernity we should return to the roots of empathy, because it leads us to the ability to share feelings with other people, including those who have fallen on hard times. Why now? This is something we will discuss during the lecture.
The lecture is the part of DESIGN BLOCK. Free admission.
